Commerce Independent School District strives for excellence in education. In addition to required academic programs, CISD offers Accelerated Reading, Advanced Placement (9-12), Athletics (7-12), Tech 2000 Lab, CISCO Certification, Computer Instruction, Concurrent Enrollment at Texas A&M-Commerce, Correspondence Courses, Credit by Examination, English as a Second Language and Head Start. 
There is a strong partnership between CISD and Texas A&M University-Commerce. Students can receive college credit for concurrent enrollment courses, and the CISCO Certification program is a partnership between the high school and university. The $15.7 million high school campus, opened in the fall of 2000, was built on 85 acres of leased University land. Student/Teacher Ratio is 14 to 1, allowing individual attention and hands-on instruction for students at all grade levels. Approximately 80% of high school graduates attend college, and the dropout rate for the 2004-2005 school year was a low, 0.0%. Commerce ISD Sports Programs Texas is known nationwide for its love of high school football and other sports. Commerce is no exception, and the community is a strong supporter of the school system in both academics and sports. The Commerce High School Tigers went to the state playoffs in football in 1995, 1997, 1999 & 2001. They won the State 3A Football Championship in 1999 & 2001.
